Getting duplicative orders because….

I’m getting duplicative orders (unintended) by customers because after they keyed in their name and phone number, they would press next and go to the payment page - if they left at this point, they didn’t know that their order has been captured (as unpaid) and this has caused my staffs to have to go through and check for duplicated orders which I felt that could be fixed if there is some sort of order confirmation at the very point where order would have been captured.
Example: Order has been made, payment has not been made.
This has happened many times by now for me to know that this issue is really apparent and customer has been giving us feedback on this.

We changed the order button and payment header to reduce duplicated orders.

Youmin Kim if a customer press Back to review their order (which could happen quite often) then press Place Order and Pay, their order would actually be captured twice (causing an unintended duplicate which they don’t even know).
Also, would it be possible to include an option for customer to select a pay later and submit their order first - could shown as in a progress bar that order placed, payment not yet received
The whole idea here is that I feel that the order should only be captured once they “Submit their order” Which should be shown very clearly as from an UX UI pov. Because although you included the header that order was received, it’s not very natural for customers to know since it could easily be missed.
Before the payment page, could there possibly be a more definitive order has been received page so that customers could clearly know this? See image for example (Order placed > Payment (button for customer to click to choose their payment) > fulfilment etc.)
And do not log for another order when customer press back, it doesn’t make sense.

Yes, they need an option for customers to go directly to check out instead of taking them back to the home order page yes .
